So, as you may or may not know…I entered Boolpropfighttheaddiction False’s Next Top Model competition. Its something that always looked like great fun to me. So when I entered it I had some free time on my hands and I thought…hey…why not? For those not aware, its where you use a Sim that you have created and you take photos using that sim as a model. Well so far I have made it to round 5 and even tied for the top spot in the second round! This particular round was very difficult for me, round 5 I mean. It involved creating a PSA. For the non-Americans that’s a Public Service Announcement…apparently we’re the only ones who do that – I’m assuming anyway given the number of confused people on boolprop. Many people have so far chosen to do something whimsical or light hearted…I’m really not in that sort of mood. Frankly, I’m in a very bad mood right now. Its 10am and I still haven’t actually slept since yesterday. I have been awake for about 22 hours now and I had a horribly rotten night. So instead…I decided to do a serious PSA about an organization that I am very passionate about.
The organization is RAINN and that stands for the Rape Abuse Incest National Network. Here’s what they do, straight from their website.
The Rape, Abuse & Incest National Network is the nation’s largest anti-sexual violence organization. RAINN operates the National Sexual Assault Hotline at 1.800.656.HOPE and the National Sexual Assault Online Hotline at rainn.org, and publicizes the hotlines’ free, confidential services; educates the public about sexual violence; and leads national efforts to prevent sexual violence, improve services to victims and ensure that rapists are brought to justice.
So, yes. They are helping people who are victims on a daily basis. So, I decided to do my PSA about them and because I am so passionate about this I have decided to share my PSA’s with you.
Each year over 200,000 people are victimized. 80% of victims are under the age 30. 15 out of 16 attackers will never spend a day in jail.
Over half of the crimes committed aren’t reported. Don’t let them steal your voice. Speak out, act out, don’t suffer in silence.
Help is there when you need it.
I’m a little concerned that the Mods won’t take too kindly to the fact that it is a PSA about rape and sexual abuse, though if you notice I never used those words. I hope that its enough to get me to the next round. Just thought I would share.
